Well, the Haunted House is officially underway at Potter’s 72nd and it’s an exciting time of year. It’s an easy switch to flip your brain from pansies to zombies… heck, they both end in “s”. The big black wall for the haunted house has been constructed and up go the rooms. Soon the decorating crew will set in weaving their magical terror tapestries throughout the haunt. Sound, lights, action!! Spine chills n’ screams, here we come!!!

Many of you know that our 72nd Potter’s location switches gears in the fall from a full-swinging garden centre to an ultra-creepy haunted house. And, if you can believe it, many of the employees are already excitedly chattering about this year’s House of Horrors. Ideas are being tossed around and plans are being made to try and scare the bee-jeebies out of our loyal patrons. You promise us that you’ll show up and we’ll promise you that we’ll try our hardest to make you scream… it’s a deal!!

Potters House Of Horrors Opens In 2 Days!

Potters House of Horrors opens on Friday Oct 15th! I can’t wait!

We are the only garden centre in Canada that converts its entire premises over to a Halloween event. Built completely under cover inside our 72nd Street store, the walk thru display is approximately 14,000 square feet. Complete with a state of the art sound system, the latest in animatronics and live actors, the event is now in its 7th year. Last year approximately 18,000 people took the challenge and entered into the darkened maze. Almost all of them came out alive…but hardly unscathed….moooohaahaa!)

For those who came down and saw our float in the Spirit Of The Sea Festival you will know what I am talking about… for those who missed it, you will just have to wait ’til next year! This year Potters 72 & 192 joined forces; Christmas and Halloween together won 1st place for a commercial float and best overall entry! That would make it two years in a row for us! Can’t wait ’til next year!

I can’t believe what I’m hearing around here. Yes, we did have our first Halloween meeting a month ago but now that I count the weeks, it’s only SIX WEEKS until the Black Wall goes up. What goes on behind this “black wall”, you ask… well, to give you a hint, a lot of blood must be made for this event… don’t worry plant lovers, we’re still here for fall plants and bulbs!

Can you believe it? The Potter’s 72 crowd has already begun meetings to discuss Halloween for 2010!! The plan has been set, the props are being fine-tuned, the “scare-o-meter” has been cranked to 11… it’s gonna be nuts this year! I don’t want to give anything away but it looks like kids of all ages will enjoy the fun… oh, and adults are gonna love it too!
