Good news for those bulb-a-holics out there, I just talked to our local bulb supplier and bulbs are on their way in a couple of weeks!! Tulip bulbs, daff bulbs, alliums, fritillarias, irises… Potter’s will be bulb central soon enough! By mid to late August, all our Potter’s stores will have good selection on all your favourite bulbs. Pinapple Lily

Walking around the other day I saw a plant that I love! Eucomis or pinapple lily is an amazing bulb that blooms in the summer. It is the flowers that I love the most. They stand about 14 – 16″ tall and are a cluster of stars going up the stem! A must have for pots or the garden.

So I have been a bad blogger… haven’t been keeping it up. So even though I am at home today I am going to blog. So what is going on around my place? Well my allium is in bloom. My allium giganteum is measuring a height of 57″ with a flower head of 7.5″ across! That is one impressive bulb!

Everywhere I look I see little noses sticking out of the soil… no, I’m not hanging out in a shallow graveyard, I’m talking about bulb noses popping out! I think the first thing that makes me excited for the upcoming spring is bulbs bursting forth from the soil. The second most exciting thing is the coming of the cherry blossoms.. but that’s still a ways away. For now, I’m going to enjoy the snowdrops, crocuses and hyacinths… BEAUTIFUL!!!

Three Lips At Potter’s

… wait, I think I have the number wrong.. it’s Tulips, not three lips! And all Potter’s stores have loads of tulips in stock right now. Plenty of colours to choose from.

I’m gonna warn ya… you don’t want to be one of those people who sees everybody’s lovely tulips blooming next spring and then laments that you don’t have that kind of colour in your garden… if you want the amazing burst of colour in spring, now’s the time to get your bulbs. With a little bit of planning, you’ll be the envy of the neighbourhood in early 2011!
