    Martha Washington Geraniums

    Monday, June 20th, 2011

Pelargoniums (aka Martha Washingons) are extremely popular garden plants, grown as annuals in temperate climates.  My mom buys 3 every year and plants them in her 3 little pots on the front walkway.  They get full sun and she makes sure to water them well so they don’t dry out. They are also known as [...]

    Thursday, May 26th, 2011

It’s a great time to come in and check out the varieties of clematis  available at all of our Potter’s locations . Some are in full bloom and look absolutely fabulous and are just waiting to find an arbour or pergola to climb .

    Dwarf Gunnera

    Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Potters 152 just received a great little spreading water plant that is quite unique. It is called Gunnera magellanica and is basically a teenie tiny version of the Giant Gunnera that you see everywhere. It loves wet feet and would do perfectly stream side.

    Helwingia japonica

    Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Helwingia isn’t a show stoppoer, it isn’t a prize winner and it’s not even a 1.00 off coupon…. but what it is , is unique…. in that it is one of the few genus of plants that flowers off its leaf and not its stem . This event is called epiphylly, and when used in a conversation with friends [...]

    Hepatica

    Thursday, March 17th, 2011

Hepatica nobilis ,also known as the Liver Leaf is one of the cutest woodland perennials I own. It’ s soft, violet blue flowers emerge in February and sometimes last as long as mid April. It is best placed in the border of a shade garden or randomly throughout a part shade ,woodland setting. Great companions to the [...]

    Heather

    Monday, February 28th, 2011

Heather is another favourite early bloomer.  Heather loves the hot / dry location in your garden. (when we have heat that is!)  Plant them somewhere in full sun with good drainage.  Available now is the winter blooming heather.  Usually in white and pink/dark pink shades, they pop open just when you think it’s too cold [...]

    Sweet Smell Of Pieris Japonica

    Saturday, February 26th, 2011

Pieris Japonica has got to be one of my favourite shrubs.  It’s an early bloomer, with bunches of scented flowers in February/March.  It is also an evergreen shrub, with new growth coming in brilliant red.  What great contrast!  They can handle the sun or part shade and are very resilient.  I see them planted in [...]

    Absolutely Amethyst Candy Tuft

    Friday, October 15th, 2010

This new Candy Tuft will blow your socks off. Rather than its typical white flower this variety is the first Iberis to carry pink blooms. Absolutely Amethyst shares all the same great traits as the other Iberis varieties so you will still get the same plant but with a twist.

    Sedums For The Fall Feel

    Friday, September 17th, 2010

Sedum are a huge group of hardy, succulent , drought resistant plants that have been used in everything from green roofs to alpine troughs . Their versatility makes them the perfect addition to most garden projects. They also are one of a few groups of plants that work perfectly in falls planters. Since they come in many forms (ie. Upright, [...]
