I love this little perennial. I’ve never had any problem with them and when things are starting to look rough in the garden , it seems to pop up just in time. I have it under the canopy of a Acer japonicum sp. and in between a pair of mouse ears hosta.

Cedar Hedging

Autumn is a great time to plant cedar hedging so every fall we get in a great selection of cedar trees . This year we brought in some really lush 6′ and 4′ potted trees.

Living lanterns

Our cute little chinese lantern or as some call them pumpkin plants have just arrived and the are all dressed up and ready for your harvest display. These little classics make a perfect gift for any autumn occasion. Well maybe not all occassions… my 1 year old daughter didn’t really appreciate the one I gave her for her birthday:)

Colourful Cone flowers

The Echinacea are starting to come out in full force. They are so dependable and just seem to know when their bright cheery colour is needed in the garden. With endless available colours and forms the coneflower is an easy fit for any sunny spot. I love to place them in huge masses along side rudbeckia and Actea.

Day at the Beach

Our little gnome has just sent me pictures of day he spent at one of our local beaches. As you can see it was a beautiful sunny day and the local wild life was out enjoying the surf as well.

Fun was being had by all….It was the perfect thing to do on such a perfect day.

Even our own Betsy McRib had stopped by to grab a cool one from the cooler. Apparently she was so thirsty she knocked over Mr.Gnome on her way to the ice box. She was later quoted as saying ” Root beer is good!!”, not quite the apology the gnome was hoping for.

PS. All the ornaments , plants, outdoor lanterns and even the umbrella can be found for sale at any one of our Potters locations.

Acanthus White Water …..Glows!!

I recently purchased a relatively new Acanthus variety called ‘White water’. It has a heavily lobed… spikey,green and cream variegated leaf ( maybe not variegated maybe more like sprayed cream and green leaf )with a cream /pink tinged flower spike. It’s presence in my dark shaded garden is quite apparent and I would definitely recommend it to everyone.
