But you’re wondering what the question is so I guess I’ll ask for you…. “What’s the best and most economical potting soil that your garden centre sells?” The answer is THE ANSWER! No, that actually was the answer… our most economical way to buy potting soil is to buy bales of The Answer potting soil. It’s an 85L cube of nicely mixed potting soil that’s perfect for all your containers and planters. Heck, we use it in many of our planters around the garden centre all the time. So when that question pops into your brain, you now know the answer… which is The Answer… ouch, my head hurts…

Fruit Galore!!

Boy, if you’re a fruit lover like me, you’ll want to come in to your nearest Potter’s and see what we have in stock for fruit plants. Most of our stores have nice stock of fruit trees, berry-producing shrubs such as blueberries and raspberries, strawberry plants and much, much more. Come in and see what tasty selections we have. There’s nothing more satisfying than growing your own fruit!

Now’s a great time of year to spread mushroom manure around your garden beds. It’s a great soil conditioner plus gives nutrients to existing plants. All our stores carry mushroom, steer and chicken manure, so if poop is your game, Potter’s is in your league!! Come check out our smelly stuff.. your plants will literally thank you… well, not literally, but if they had little lips n tongues they might!! CLUCK CLUCK MOO!!

Seeds!

Seed season is upon us and certainly our 72nd Potter’s store is excited. For whatever reason, our Newton location always is very popular with the seed-planting crowds. We carry a number of seed brands including Westcoast Seeds and Pacific Northwest Seeds. Starting plants from seed is a very satisfying way to grow plants as well as saving significant amounts of money. There’s loads of varieties of veggies and flowers to choose from.. come see!

Spring & Summer Bulbs

Many gardeners have gotten away from planting spring and summer bulbs, preferring instead to nestle in the sureties of pre-grown plants. For those who have a bit of patience and want to save a few pennies, bulb gardening is such a satisfying aspect of a perennial BC garden. Plus, there’s plenty to choose from. Anemones, fancy begonias, lilies (Oriental and Asiatic), dahlias, gladiolas, ornamental alliums… the list goes on. All our Potter’s stores carry plenty of spring and summer bulbs and we hope you’ll check out our bulb racks this spring… there’s so many exciting bulbs to choose from!

Rhodos & Azaleas

Most of us love the bright flowery hues of rhododendrons and azaleas and for many it’s a sure-fire signal that spring has arrived. To get the best selection, make sure you come into Potter’s soon and see what we have in stock. Once those adorable little shrubs start flowering out in the gardens, everybody races in and snatches whatever rhodos and azaleas they can get their hands on. You can get a jump on the crowds by making your selections a little sooner than the general masses.. come see!

Terracotta Man @ Potter’s 72!

Look up in the sky.. it’s a blurb.. it’s a plate… no it’s TERRACOTTA MAN!!! Come see the magnificent Terracotta Man at Potter’s 72nd and bask in his glory… well, maybe he’s not all that glorious or magnificent but Miss Jessie T loves him all the same. And the employees have taken a real shine to our very own Terracotta Man. I saw Dan W have lunch with him the other day, so it’s nice to see TM fitting in with the rest of the employees. Three jeers for Terracotta Man!

The Haunt Begins… BOO!!!

Well, the Haunted House is officially underway at Potter’s 72nd and it’s an exciting time of year. It’s an easy switch to flip your brain from pansies to zombies… heck, they both end in “s”. The big black wall for the haunted house has been constructed and up go the rooms. Soon the decorating crew will set in weaving their magical terror tapestries throughout the haunt. Sound, lights, action!! Spine chills n’ screams, here we come!!!

Crusher Dust @ Potter’s 72

If you’re laying down patio tiles or doing some paving, you might need a base material that is easy to level and packs down hard beneath your finished product. Luckily Potter’s on 72nd Ave has a high quality crusher dust that fills your very need. We sell all our bulk products by a Bobcat scoop (just over a half yard) or by the bag. Obviously the best value is buying by the scoop but for those who need just a little bit of material, bagging your own is quick n easy!

Pansy fibre packs are here at all the Potter’s stores, and you know what that means… the pansy onslaught begins! Throughout September and October Potter’s sells almost every colour imaginable of pansy and boy, are they popular. Some people only like the traditional yellow pansies but most like to get a mix of colours. Come check them out, I’m sure we have a hue that will suit your fancy!
