Well if you didn’t know already, our Scare Team went to Las Vegas this past March to the Transworld Haunt Show… a whole trade show devoted to the “Haunt Industry”! We purchased some new toys this year and the big unmarked crates have been arriving for the past couple of weeks. This year’s House of Horrors will be our best ever. The new website http://www.pottershouseofhorrors.com/ is being re-worked as I write; I hope to launch it in early August. We hired a team that specializes in haunt-indutry web design and I saw my first peak yesterday… just the main page gives me the creeps. Our Poster for 2008 is also in the works and you’ll be seeing it all over very town soon.

If you haven’t heard of them, these Tumblers are a great choice for window boxes or hanging baskets. Tumbler Tomato was developed to cascade from hanging baskets as well as for good taste. It bears nicely flavored cherry tomatoes. Very productive. Very Yummy! And this week (June 11th) and for limited time we have lots of them.

It took me by surprise that these products would catch on so quickly. Natures Gold products are made of natural recycled compost products right here in BC. The potting soil is our best seller this year. I’ve used it myself this year and my containers are off to a great start. The lawn and garden fertilizer is one I just put on the beds last night, what a great workable product. Its so fine it lays down even across the surface of the soil and lawn, it looks great to as it has a dark almost black color, and its highly nutritional for the garden. Check it out at …

Just arrived…The Amazing Fan Flower!

I just received an order of Proven Winner Baskets and in the mix is a few of the Scaveola baskets aka Fan Flower.

These aren’t the easiest things to find these days. Most growers don’t do them as they aren’t the easiest thing to sell and they don’t appeal to everyone. But after saying that if you’ve ever tried one you never settle for anything else, particularly in a sunny hot location. It performs effortlessly all summer and it beats the heat. They look a little on the stringy side now, but a little pinch here and there they fill in wonderfully.

Put a scoop or 2 of 14-14-14 slow release fertilizer in before you hang them up, then give them a dose of 15 30 15 once every 2 or 3 weeks.

I know they wont last long as Mrs. Eckert usually stops in for her 6 every year. There will be one at my house this year for sure.

Well, now that we have a blog up and running, I am told that I need to fill everyone in on what the 72nd Street Potters store has been up to since the annual Potters House of Horrors shut down for the season. (Which by the way was a screaming success – probably our best year yet!)

Talking about screaming… the day after Halloween (the last night of our house of horrors) I raced my wife to the hospital where she delivered our beautiful twin babies. Yes, Sophie and Carter were born Nov 1st 2007. Wow big change in our lives -all for the better.

Christmas trees at Potters came in December 1 we had a great selection this year and Sold out down to the last Charlie brown again. The staff at Potters enjoyed a bit of a break at Christmas where we had a chance to prepare for the Big Move

The Big Move was supposed to be in January – we counted and wrapped up all the product fixture tables etc to move to the new store on 192. We didn’t go far..
The problem is the new store isn’t ready yet! So we had to move everything to our 152nd Street Store, which is in shambles from the drive through at Christmas. Just to move it all again back to the new store in February! Who said moving was fun?

During February and March, we finally get the new 192nd store moved in. Roses are being potted up at the 72nd Street Store and tons of new pottery is being delivered to the 152nd street store. We are all getting ready for Spring! The boss and I flew down to Las Vegas for the Haunted House trade show (yes there really is such a thing!) where we ended up buying all kinds of new and spooky things for the Potters 2008 Haunted House – I can’t wait to get working on that!

April and May have brought us a cool spring here in the lower mainland. In fact I think this is coolest I’ve seen in 20 years here at Potters. Well not sure its been 20 years cause I don’t have my gold watch yet. Maybe next year?

All the Potters Locations are loaded and ready for the brighter skies ahead of us. May Long Weekend, they say is supposed to be sunny. well take it, and we are ready! See you at the store!
