Profile: Cam started with Potters in 1992. He showed up with a friend who was already working for us because we needed help unloading trucks. At the end of the week, we kept Cam and fired his friend. They still talk, which we find amazing. When we opened our 72nd Ave store a year later, we made Cam the manager. If I remember right, no one else wanted the job. Cam was instrumental in starting our House of Horrors Hallowe’en attraction and runs it every year. When our Ocean Park store opened, we moved Cam over to manage that store, much to the disappointment of his long time customers at 72nd Ave. He is also our General Manager and spends a portion of time visiting growers to earmark the best plants for our stores. And he is addicted to Tim Horton’s but refuses counseling. We tried an intervention, but wouldn’t you know it….someone brought coffee.

All season we’ve been getting requests for Tumbler Tomato baskets and finally we can fill the demand. If you haven’t heard of them, these Tumblers are a great choice for window boxes or hanging baskets. Tumbler Tomato was developed to cascade from hanging baskets as well as for good taste. It bears nicely flavored cherry [...]

    Just Arrived!

    Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

Just arrived…The Amazing Fan Flower! I just received an order of Proven Winner Baskets and in the mix is a few of the Scaveola baskets aka Fan Flower. These aren’t the easiest things to find these days. Most growers don’t do them as they aren’t the easiest thing to sell and they don’t appeal to [...]

    Thursday, May 15th, 2008

Well, now that we have a blog up and running, I am told that I need to fill everyone in on what the 72nd Street Potters store has been up to since the annual Potters House of Horrors shut down for the season. (Which by the way was a screaming success – probably our best [...]

    Shady BC Gardens

    Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

Everybody’s got shady spots.. here’s some great shady annuals that we carry regularily. Tuberous begonias, fibrous begonias, mimulus, fuchsias, impatiens (the BEST!), double impatiens, trailing ivy, lamium, creeping charlie, coleus… all of these things go great in shade. And the nice thing I find with shady planters/ baskets, is that you have to water way [...]
