Just in… 2 items just came in this week for our perennial selection I think are worth mentioning. 1st, Agapanthus africanus, or Dwarf lily of the Nile. This one is named  “Peter Pan” Its a beautiful mini version of the popular original cultivars. Small clumps give rise to deep blue flower clusters on sturdy stalks. [...]

    Just arrived at Potters 192!

    Friday, May 30th, 2008

We finally received our large shipment of framed stained glass panels. We now have everything from flowers to hummingbirds to horses and finally some peacocks. The largest panels are 20” x 40” and surprisingly these are the most popular. New for us are the round stained glass tables. These are table height and about 23” [...]

    Popular Water Features

    Wednesday, May 28th, 2008

One of the main focal points at Potters 152nd is our pond. Customers love to stand by it on hot summer days to watch the fish, listen to the water and/or just chill out for a while. Children love to feed the fish. If Kiel Munns is around he’ll usually get the fish food out [...]

    BC Garden Centre Mystery Plant

    Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

I always try to get in as much new and unique plant material as I can. Although I’ve never been able to order in the mystery plant that everyone asks for. I get requests for it everyday. In fact, I was asked for one this morning. This plant only grows 3′ tall 3′ wide, a [...]

    Potters Favorite mis-pronouced plant names

    Monday, May 26th, 2008

Here’s some plants and plant terms that people often mis-pronounce: germaniums (geraniums), bacopia (bacopa), foilage (foliage), amemones (anemones) and hoo-cherra (heuchera). I guess it doesn’t really matter what you call it because we all know what you’re talking about anyway.. it’s just fun to see how different people pronounce different things.

    BC Landscaping and Nurseries

    Sunday, May 25th, 2008

Plants have been flying out the door lately. From large trees to 2″ annuals, people are definitely getting back into gardening. And like always people are requesting the names of individuals to help them install all this plant material. The best source for local landscape contractors is the BCLNA webpage. It can be found at [...]

    Daylilies

    Saturday, May 24th, 2008

One of my favourite plants for summer are daylilies… I think there’s a spot in every yard for a few. Great, long-lasting colour and super-hardy. And the fact that they come back every year and get bigger and fuller is great. I think it’s an oft-overlooked plant but definitely a great one for the perennial [...]

Topsy Turvy Upside Down Tomato Planter

    Friday, May 23rd, 2008

The box says it’s “The worlds easiest way to grow tomatoes”. Can it be true? We planted up a tester at the store 3 days ago and we hope to be nibbling little cherry tomatoes all summer long. Here’s how it works: It comes with a canvas cylinder (your pot) with a small hole in [...]

Dear Ad Guy, Have you noticed, since everyone has cell cameras these days, no one talks about seeing UFO’s like they used to? Bob L. S.Surrey

    Planter Favorites

    Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

I wanted to mention a few basket/planter favorites of mine that seem to be over looked by shoppers. Lotus Vine “Red Flash” is a ferny looking trailing annual that spills over your basket and fills in any spots missing by your regular heavy blooming annuals. Lotus vine is almost like a lady in waiting… it [...]
