Scented Tulips!
by Chris ~ September 2nd, 2010Wow! Potter’s 72nd just got in some scented tulips! What could be better than a large-flowered fragrant tulip? The answer… NOTHING! Fall bulbs are here!

Colour Again!
by Chris ~ August 26th, 2010After the late-summer clear-out of our spring/ summer stock people think Potter’s might be low on colour.. but they’re wrong! We’ve stocked up with mums, aster and pansies and we’re chock full of colour again! We have mum tubs, large asters, leafy little kales, packs of glorious pansies… there’s lots to choose from in the fall season and bulbs should be here soon, if they aren’t already here by the time you read this. I love the fall season at Potter’s!

Autumn Decor At Potters 192
by Holly ~ August 24th, 2010Autumn Crocus
by Tia ~ August 23rd, 2010So I just got in some of our fall bulbs and one that I ordered caught my eye. Colchium “The Giant’ is a autumn crocus that gets planted now and you enjoy next fall. What is unique about these bulbs is that the are great for naturalizing an area and their leaves come out first, die off, then you get a pink flower emerging from the soil in the fall! What more can you ask for?
Coneflower Crazy!!!
by Scott ~ August 20th, 2010Being that our plant of the month this month is the cone flower. I went out and ordered a selection of exciting new echinaceas. They range in colour from a deep coral red to a light, clean pink. Some are fragrant and some are doubles. Hot lava is a choice example that has fragrant blooms that emerge vermilion then fade to pink -orange. We have 10 or so varieties in stock right now that are all in full bloom.
Hot, Hot, Hot
by Chris ~ August 19th, 2010Boy, it’s been beautiful weather lately, hasn’t it? Does anybody remember that they were wearing winter jackets up until the end of June? Well, I guess I do… regardless, with all this sunny weather I want to remind everybody to water those annual planters and baskets really well. By this point your planters are probably overflowing with growth and that growth is going to need plenty of water on these hot, hot days. I’m not nagging you.. just a gentle reminder!

Ephemerals
by Scott ~ August 13th, 2010You might have noticed that little sections in your woodland garden have gone bare . Well don’t overreact and instantly blame your husband and his crazy friends. There is an explanation for this. Some plants come out early in the season, bloom, then go dormant and disappear later on. These plants are called ephemerals. Some examples of ephemerals are bleeding hearts and Trilliums.
